UK-based security technology manufacturer Smiths Detection has signed a deal with the Canada’s Optosecurity to develop and distribute a new checkpoint enterprise software solution.
The new system aims to improve the overall performance of security checkpoints, as well as reduce their operational costs.

By GlobalDataThe agreement comes after the companies signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in 2013.
It will enable airports to combine checkpoint technologies to offer better process control, as well as additional capabilities such as remote screening operations.
Smiths Detection EMEA regional vice-president Ian May said: "The agreement leverages our global base of checkpoint products, including X-rays, trace detectors, full body screening devices and bottle screeners for liquid explosives with Optosecurity’s advanced technology solutions, software development and rapid implementation.
"It will improve airport checkpoint throughput and offer significant opportunities for operational benefits."
