This year, Frequentis Australasia proudly celebrates its 20th anniversary as a trusted partner in building and equipping safety-critical control centres throughout Australia, New Zealand, and the broader Australasian region.
The journey began even before the subsidiary’s formation, with Frequentis securing its first major Australian contract in 2003- a nationwide VHF system upgrade for Airservices Australia. This system, which still manages every air traffic control (ATC) radio call across Australian airspace today, is a testament to Frequentis’ enduring commitment to durability and innovation.
Building on this success, Frequentis Australasia quickly became integral to Australia’s critical infrastructure, supporting industries such as air traffic management (ATM), public safety, defence, maritime, and public transport. Today, its systems support the operations of major organisations, including Airservices Australia, the Royal Australian Air Force, Sydney Trains, Marine Rescue New South Wales, and Airways New Zealand.
From securing its first contract to becoming a leading critical infrastructure supplier in Australia, New Zealand, and the wider region, Frequentis has grown both locally and globally. The company has created and secured over 150 highly skilled engineering jobs in Australia, with production facilities and local supply chains in Brisbane and Melbourne. Frequentis Australasia continues to build on this success by investing in cutting-edge technologies and projects, such as supporting Australia’s future air traffic management needs through the Airservices Australia Digital Aerodrome Services and the Flight Information Management System (FIMS), a world-leading uncrewed aircraft traffic management (UTM) system that will manage millions of uncrewed aircraft flights in Australia’s busy airspace.
To celebrate this 20-year milestone, Frequentis Australasia held a special reception on 27 November 2024 at the Austrian Embassy in Canberra, graciously hosted by Austrian Ambassador Elisabeth Koegler. The event brought together customer executives, partners, and political leaders, including Member of Parliament Steve Georganas MP, to celebrate Frequentis Australasia’s achievements and contributions to safety over the past two decades. The evening also served as an opportunity to emphasise the company’s commitment to innovation, collaboration, and safety-critical infrastructure in the Australasian region.
“We are proud to push boundaries through innovative, long-term partnerships with our customers,” says Frequentis Australasia managing director Martin Rampl. “Our commitment to delivering world-class, safety-critical solutions tailored to the region’s unique needs and being close to our customers has made Frequentis a cornerstone of Australia’s critical infrastructure. As we celebrate 20 years of success, we extend our heartfelt thanks to our employees, partners, and customers. Your trust and collaboration have been instrumental in achieving this milestone. Together, we look forward to another 20 years of delivering safety and innovation.”
