The media is invited to attend the official opening of the 2nd African Symposium on Human Factors & Aviation Safety by ATNS CEO, Thabani Mthiyane.
Human error is identified as the main cause or contributory factor in approximately 75% of all aviation-related accidents and incidents. As such, understanding human error, especially in an African context, is crucial as we seek to improve aircraft and passenger safety going forward.
In order to address these concerns, Air Traffic and Navigation Services (ATNS) SOC Limited, in partnership with CANSO Africa, the University of the Witwatersrand, the University of Pretoria, Rhodes University, and the Ergonomic Society of South Africa, is providing a platform for aviation professionals and academics to collaborate from an operational and research perspective.
The event is at 8am on Tuesday, 8 September 2015, lasting for eight and a half hours, and is being held at the Protea Hotel Fire and Ice, New Church Street, Tamboerskloof, Cape Town, South Africa.
