To open up the poorly accessible Volta region in Ghana, the Ghanese government has decided to have an airport built near the town of Ho. The new airport should be finished in 2016. Deerns was approached by the Ghanese contractor Amandi to come up with a complete design for this airport.
Over the coming years, an airport will arise in the jungle around the town of Ho. It is to accommodate regional flights. It is difficult to approach because of the holy mountain Adaklu. That is why Deerns conducted an obstacle limitations surfaces study first and presented its recommendations regarding the orientation of the runway to the airport authority in Ghana. Upon approval of the airport layout plan drawn up by Deerns, the groundwork for the preparations will be started up.
The construction of the airport should be finished by the end of 2016.
