Ultra Electronics Airport Systems has raised £3,087 for the 2010 BBC Children in Need appeal with the enthusiastic help of employees and generous suppliers.
In the four weeks leading up to Children in Need day on 19 November 2010, staff members donated time and effort to cooking buns, cakes, biscuits, samosas, sausage rolls and other items, which were sold in the kitchens to hungry colleagues.
Ultra has also raised money with a ‘Smarties tube challenge’ where staff were given a tube of Smarties and encouraged to eat the Smarties and then fill the tube up with change over a period of a few weeks.
On Children in Need day itself, a fancy dress competition and raffle were held. Prizes for both were generously donated by suppliers including: K-Com, ATPi, Epson, Motorola, IBM, IER, Intermec, NCR, Pioneer, The Book People, Strong and Herd and even the office car valet service and sandwich service joined in.
The fancy dress competition attracted many weird and wonderful entries as people let their inner selves out. Group entries included cats and witches, Wizard of Oz, and Harry Potter themes. Individual entries included Hairspray, Ozzy Osborne, Devil Bikers, Stewie from Family Guy and many more.
Cash donations were gathered in from UEAS, Access, Progress Software, Desko and Servicetec.
Ultra Electronics Airport Systems is proud to continue to donate to BBC Children in Need, and is already busy planning the 2011 campaign.
