MEP has been awarded a number of projects, including work for St Anthan’s conversion from a military airbase to a civilian airfield, as well as Highlands and Islands Airports Limited’s voice communication system replacement.

St Athan military to civil transition

MEP is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a contract to upgrade the air traffic control (ATC) tower facilities at RAF St Athan Airfield, UK.

This contract is in preparation for the forthcoming transition from a military airbase to a civil airfield in March 2019. In collaboration with Copperchase, the communication systems will be completely renewed to bring them in line with current civil regulations.

Highlands and Islands replacement voice communication systems

MEP is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a contract By Highlands and Islands Airports Limited (HIAL) for the supply and installation of four voice communications systems.

The new systems replace the current systems in use at Dundee, Inverness, Kirkwall and Sumburgh in Scotland and are fully ED137 compliant and backwards compatible with older signalling types. The project is due to run until 2020 and MEP and Copperchase will be working closely with HIAL to ensure a smooth transition of the systems.

Walney Island airfield new ATC tower

MEP has been awarded the contract to upgrade the ATC tower voice communication facilities at Walney Island Airfield, UK.

This contract is in preparation for the forthcoming transition from the old tower to the new one in early 2019. In collaboration with Copperchase, the ATC tower facilities, including ATC desks and communication systems, will be renewed to bring them in line with current civil regulations or transferred if suitable.
