Effective from 1 January 1 2014, Govert Hamers has been appointed as President and CEO at Vanderlande Industries. He will succeed Peter Gerretse.
Govert Hamers transfers from the highly successful international shipbuilder IHC Merwede, where, since 2005, he has been the CEO responsible for a strong, profitable growth in turnover from 450 million euros to almost 1 billion euros. Before that, he fulfilled various senior management positions at companies such as Imtech, Fokker, ECT and ASML.
Mr. Hamers has already been on the Supervisory Board at Vanderlande Industries, an innovative high tech company, for the last two years. The company’s turnover has grown significantly in that period, and Vanderlande is well-positioned for the future.
Govert Hamers brings with him extensive experience in leading companies which operate in a Business-to-Business market, and where large, client-specific projects play a substantial role.
"We are very happy about Govert Hamers’ appointment", says Paul Broekhuijsen, chairman of the Supervisory Board at Vanderlande Industries. "Mr. Hamers knows the company well, and has a great deal of experience in leading large, international, innovative organisations. We have every confidence that he will be able to further expand our strong position as leading player in the market for automated material handling systems."
Govert Hamers also serves as a member of the Supervisory Board of IHC Merwede per 1 October 2013 and as the Chairman of SeaEurope, the European Ship and Maritime Equipment Association.
