In 2015 DHL started the construction of a new state-of-the-art 31,500m² express parcel sorting centre at Brussels Airport to further strengthen the position of Brussels within the European and worldwide DHL network.
Following positive experience during the DHL Leipzig Hub project, SACO again received the order to design, supply and install the ULD handling equipment including a total of 11,000m² castor deck and 250 reload / offload roller decks fitted with integrated weighing equipment. The scope also includes ten truck docks, lowering workstations, four ULD hoists, 28 automated landside / airside airlocks, and PLC systems to control and monitor the ULD loading and unloading operations. The first phase was installed in Summer 2016, the remainder is planned for completion during 2017.
