At the aviation trade show Passenger Terminal Expo (PTE) in Cologne, Materna will present a completely unique solution that is used by passengers to measure their cabin baggage fully automatically. With the new cabin luggage check, airlines can automatically weigh and measure the hand luggage of their passengers before departure, and compare the data with their specifications.
If the piece of luggage is too large or too heavy, the passenger will receive a receipt, which will allow him to drop off his hand luggage quickly and easily. Airlines can thereby accurately calculate their capacities and flexibly react to excess baggage in order to avoid unnecessary disruptions during flight operations.
Due to many or large pieces of hand luggage, it is common practice for airlines to cope with delays in flight operations. If the luggage of a flight cannot be stowed in the baggage compartments, it must be subsequently removed from the cabin and placed at the counter. For the cabin crew, this is expensive and time-consuming. If the airline exceeds the time allotted for the take-off procedure, it will then have to wait for a new departure time. The flight is then already delayed prior to departure.
Materna presents two additional solutions at the trade fair: With the retrofit self bag drop solution Mercury, Materna offers a new compact solution for automated baggage drop-off. Compared to the retrofit solution, the kiosk system Phoenix is larger and requires very little maintenance.
Visitors of PTE are invited to test the new products at Materna Stand 6050.
