BEUMER Latinoamericana Equipamentos Ltda will demonstrate its end-to-end baggage handling system capabilities at the Airport Infra Expo at Transamérica Expo Center – Pavilion C, stand 12F, in São Paulo, Brazil, from 22-24 May 2013.
The Brazil-based BEUMER Group company will showcase the systems for which it has just been awarded a contract to design and install the baggage handling system at Viracopos International Airport. The contract was awarded to BEUMER by the Consórcio Construtor Viracopos, the consortium responsible for the expansion of Viracopos International Airport.
The new baggage handling system is part of Phase 1 of the Viracopos International Airport’s project to provide a state-of-the-art passenger handling facility with the capacity to handle 4,200 items of baggage per hour and 14.5m passengers per year. This represents an increase of over 60% in the airport’s capacity and includes support for further planned expansion to 15m passengers per year within the next 10 years. Phase 1 will be ready in 2014, in advance of the UEFA World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games which will be hosted in Brazil.
In addition to the LS-4000E tilt-tray sorter, BEUMER Latinoamericana Equipamentos Ltda will design and install 72 check-in stations, 430 belt-conveyors and 7 reclaim carousels, including one designed for the A380 airplane. A redundant control system will ensure stability and uninterrupted operation.

In addition to the Viracopos contract, BEUMER Latinoamericana Equipamentos Ltda and Crisplant are also installing baggage handling systems for the new International and Domestic terminals at El Dorado International Airport, Bogotá, Colombia.
