Mechanical baggage-handling systems
Robson is a designer and manufacturer of mechanical handling systems with a history spanning more than 100 years. Robson remains a family-owned private limited company providing excellence in quality of products and service through individuals with many years’ experience.
Robson has been selected by BAA as a baggage systems framework supplier, a testament to the quality of the baggage system conveyors provided to Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted Airports in the UK since 1982.
Automated in-line hold baggage screening process
Robson worked closely with BAA in the early 1990s to assist with the development of the automated in-line hold baggage screening process, providing both off-line and live trial systems for the new smart technology X-ray machines.
With numerous 100% HBS integration systems undertaken thereafter during the past 15 years, Robson is one of the most experienced suppliers of this technology worldwide.
Baggage-handling carousels
The latest Robson carousels are based on friction drive, offering the following benefits:
- Low power requirements
- Low noise levels
- Low maintenance costs
Baggage-handling equipment simulation
Robson can provide in-house simulation services, with the baggage systems being created as a 3D model allowing real-time animation of passenger check-in processes, bag flows and make-up operations.
This can provide analysis of proposed system capabilities and can be an invaluable tool to identify bottlenecks and capacities of existing systems as part of expansion requirements.
Maintenance services for baggage-handling equipment
As part of the Robson after-sales service, a range of maintenance services can be provided, including:
- Health check visits
- Routine preventative maintenance
- Breakdown repairs
- Spares management and supply
Baggage-handling equipment refurbishment service
Robson also offers a refurbishment service, where older equipment (for example check-in conveyors) can be refurbished with new parts as needed and re-polished to provide an almost as-new condition.
Turnkey baggage-handling equipment
Whilst Robson can offer turnkey solutions in baggage-handling (of up to £10 million or $15million in value), it can also provide a valuable service assisting small and medium-sized airports with system redevelopment and/or expansion requirements.
Robson has a track record of repeat business, which is achieved by maintaining complete customer satisfaction during both project execution and after-sales services. It is accredited to the ISO 9001:2000 standard.
Baggage-handling equipment references
Robson’s experience ranges from major projects at Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Manchester Airports, to projects for the majority of the UK’s regional airports and overseas projects in Europe, the US, Canada, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, Libya and Bangladesh.
