General Dynamics’ subsidiary Gulfstream Aerospace has received orders for up to 50 aircraft from US-based Flexjet and 20 aircraft from Qatar Airways.

Gulfstream Aerospace launched its two new business jets Gulfstream G500 and Gulfstream G600 on the same day.

Under the deal, Gulfstream will deliver aircraft including G450, G500 and G650 for Flexjet. The order includes firm orders, options and a long-term service support agreement.

Under a Product Support Services Agreement, Gulfstream will maintain the Flexjet Gulfstream fleet for ten years. Flexjet chairman Kenn Ricci said: "Our ten-year agreement with Gulfstream will help us meet our owners’ demands for longer-range, larger-cabin aircraft, greatly expanding Flexjet’s global capabilities."

For the Memorandum of Understanding signed with Qatar Airways, Gulfstream will deliver aircraft including wide-cabin G500 and the flagship G650ER.

The G450 model aircraft will be able to house 12 to 16 passengers and travel 4,350nm/8,056km with eight passengers at Mach 0.80, while the G500 is capable of flying 5,000nm / 9,260km at Mach 0.85 or 3,800nm / 7,038km at Mach 0.90.

The G650 can accommodate up to 18 passengers and travel 7,000 nm/12,964km at Mach 0.85 or 6,000nm/11,112km at Mach 0.90.
