Airbus has received a firm order to deliver 30 A350 XWB aircraft to Cathay Pacific Airways.

Cathay Pacific will deploy the A350 XWB across its network, specifically on non-stop services to Europe.

Powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines, the aircraft will burn less fuel than existing aircraft of a similar size, offering a corresponding reduction in carbon emissions.

Cathay Pacific Airways chief executive Tony Tyler said its passenger capacity, flight range and operating economics were just right for it to become the backbone of the carrier’s mid-sized long-haul wide-bodied fleet.

The A350 XWB family, comprising the A350-800, A350-900 and A350-1000 models, will be capable of flying up to 350 passengers in a three-class configuration a maximum distance of 8,300nm.
