SEAKR Engineering will provide communication processors for the Iridium NEXT constellation under a contract with Thales Alenia Space.
The communication processor will provide MOD/DEMOD for the user RF links, the satellite-to-satellite cross links and the satellite-to-gateway links on Earth.
Also responsible for managing the network and routing user traffic, the processor will support existing waveforms to provide a seamless replacement of the existing constellation and provide advanced capabilities to improve speed, bandwidth and flexibility.
The Iridium NEXT constellation will replace the existing Iridium constellation to offer enhanced mobile satellite communication services.
The first of the Iridium NEXT satellites will be launched in the first quarter of 2015.
