Munich Airport’s LabCampus innovation hub has welcomed a new tenant in amplimind, a joint venture from Audi and Lufthansa Industry Solutions.
The company, which works on advancing the digitalisation of the mobility industry, began operating at the end of 2022 and will move 65 employees into its LabCampus office in the first quarter of 2024.
Amplimind managing director Bettina Bernhardt said: “The modern and innovative environment at the LabCampus offers ideal conditions for putting networking concepts into practice and creating space for creativity and collaboration.
“We also have the possibility here to organise our space completely individually and in line with new work requirements – which is not something that can be taken for granted.”
Whilst Munich’s LabCampus is yet to officially open (scheduled to happen in the middle of July), it has already welcomed partnerships with a number of companies, including Munich’s Airport Academy and air traffic control company DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung.
LabCampus managing director Dr Marc Wagener said: “At Amplimind, two renowned companies are collaborating across sectors in a startup-like environment to work on a major topic for the future.
“Projects and partnerships like this sustainably strengthen our regional innovation ecosystem and make it competitive in the long term.”
Amplimind’s move into the Munich Airport site continues a healthy relationship with Lufthansa and its subsidiaries after the two companies signed a letter of intent on a shared sustainability plan at the beginning of 2023.
Albert Füracker, the Bavarian state secretary for finance, added: “For us, this forward-looking project will ideally complement our clustering policy for high-tech industries and other key sectors. It will showcase a successful and prosperous Bavaria of the future."
According to Munich Airport, LabCampus was created to build an “innovation hub” to encourage growing dialogue between companies and experts and provide global connections through the airport’s international links.
Meanwhile, Amplimind is described by Audi as a company which concentrates on “agile individual development, integrating and operating strategic applications and consulting services in the fields of IT security and cloud platform development".
