UK-based technology company and engineering specialist Equipmake has announced a manufacturing technology agreement with H55 for the provision of aeronautical electric motors.

This collaboration has extended the relationship and built on a previous agreement which oversaw Equipmake supplying advanced electric motors to support the H55 Electric Propulsion System (EPS) development.

According to H55, the EPS is built to match several applications for various types of aircraft and they have integrated its technological systems across a variety of companies, including BRM Aero, CAE and Pratt & Whitney.

H55 executive chairman André Borschberg emphasised how the collaboration with H55 allows them to extend their reach in the aviation sector and partner with significant aviation manufacturers: “I am pleased to see our collaboration taking this important step, as we have many customers looking forward to using this technology.

“This partnership is very complimentary, coupling Equipmake’s experience in motor design and serial production with H55’s propulsion and battery expertise - all the prerequisites for a successful collaboration.”

As the project progresses from prototype development to full manufacturing, Equipmake will assist H55 with its customer programme with aircraft manufacturer BRM AERO.

This will feature work on the Bristell B23 Energic aircraft, a two-seater electric trainer designed for flying schools and pilot training.

Equipmake CEO Ian Foley emphasised the company's success and how the agreement extension has assisted them in producing advanced aviation manufacturing.

Foley said: “I am delighted to build on our initial agreement with H55, announcing an agreement to partner for production on our lightweight, power-dense electric motors, developing certified electric propulsion systems for the BRM Aero project. This will result in a highly advanced electric two-seater training aircraft.”
