French electrical system provider Thales has installed its latest end-to-end physical security system at the new Muscat International Airport in Oman.
The Ministry of Transport and Communication of Oman selected Thales to provide enhanced security at the airport after opening the new, modernised terminal in March this year.
The security technology delivered by Thales concentrates on the Airport Operation Control Centres and includes a perimeter intrusion detection system, access control, video surveillance system with analytics, screening equipment, security checkpoints and e-gates.
It also includes a full Airport IT suite, which manages airport operations supported by an information broker, to handle integration and communications between systems.
The infrastructure is supported by fully redundant data centres, which means that data is backed up in another location. This includes the server farms and the storage area network, access and backbone network and trunked radio systems and network security appliances.
All systems delivered by Thales at Muscat International Airport have undergone 45 operational readiness tests, incorporating more than 26,000 participants, successfully meeting and surpassing all expectations and standards.
