Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), the operator of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), has launched the new Terminal 3 (T3) concourse.
This marks the completion of phase three of construction on a new terminal.
LAWA CEO Justin Erbacci, along with Delta Air Lines, participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the T3 concourse.
The new concourse will comprise nine gates, of which eight have been completed now. The ninth gate will be included in the next construction phase, which is expected to conclude in early 2023.
Besides, it has new dining and retail spaces.
Erbacci said: “Elevating the guest experience is pivotal in our ongoing work to build a better LAX, and we are thrilled to see the next major phase of this project completed in partnership with Delta Air Lines.
“The new Terminal 3 concourse includes best-in-class passenger amenities and technology and showcases our vision for a fully modernised airport.”
In April, LAWA opened the first phase of the $2.3bn joint investment with Delta Air Lines.
A headhouse, which brought together ticketing, security screening and baggage claim into one building, was launched under this phase.
Phase two of the project was completed in May and saw the launch of three gates in Terminal 3.
In 2023, a new Delta One check-in counter and the ninth gate in Terminal 3 will be completed. The connector bridge between Terminal 3 to Tom Bradley International Terminal post-security screening is slated to open by the fall of next year.
Delta Air Lines Global Sales vice-president Scott Santoro said: “We continue to elevate the customer journey in Los Angeles, building loyalty through state-of-the-art infrastructure, robust network offerings, innovative technology and, of course, our award-winning customer service.
“LAX is one of Delta’s most important coastal hubs, and we’re committed to being the largest global carrier, providing customers with the premium curb-to-claim experience they deserve.”
