Smiths Detection, a threat detection and screening technologies provider, has obtained local certification for its iCMORE Automated Prohibited Items Detection Systems (APIDS) algorithm.

The company received the approval from the Netherlands’ National Coordinator for Security and Counter-terrorism (NCTV).

This certification was granted following rigorous testing by the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO), an ECAC certified test centre.

The national certification test results, as communicated by Robert Moerland, Head of Civil Aviation Security at NCTV, confirm that the APIDS software meets the stringent criteria of APIDS standard one and additional Dutch national detection requirements.

With this achievement, Smiths Detection claims to have become the first company to secure this approval. .

The iCMORE APIDS algorithm employs artificial intelligence to identify a broad array of prohibited items automatically at airport security checkpoints.
