Air transport IT specialist SITA has announced its new partnership programme to support what it calls a new growth path.
Four areas will be the focus of this new partner platform, Launchpad.
These areas are security and safety at airports, advanced analytics and data management, digital identities, as well as sustainable alternative energy sources -.
SITA said that the aviation sector has been facing major impediments and changing passenger preferences over the last couple of years, which calls for the need to adapt.
In order to cope with these requirements, SITA will ramp up its investments in new solutions that offer ‘smarter ways of working using existing and new technologies.’
The company also intends to partner with companies within and outside the air transport industry to support innovation or test new sustainable systems within their operations.

By GlobalDataSITA CEO David Lavorel said: “We are committed to enabling the growth of the air transport industry through smart technology and solutions. We have looked carefully at the market and identified key areas where we can have a significant impact and help our customers work smarter.
“We have a strong investment and innovation programme to support these areas which are central to the growth of SITA. To accelerate this programme, we are inviting new partners working in these four areas to join us so we can reshape the air travel industry together.”
Earlier this month, SITA agreed to implement its Digital Travel Declaration solution to help Jamaica’s Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency (PICA) clear passengers for travel pre-departure.
SITA’s tool will allow travellers to submit all immigration, customs and health documentation required for entering the country.
