Aviation technology specialist SITA has integrated IPS Intelligent Passenger Solutions into SITA Airports portfolio, in what is claimed to establish a new “gold standard” in the sector.

Now branded as ‘IPS a SITA company’, the integration enhances the range of self-service and touchless products available to airports and passengers.

This follows the acquisition of IPS by SITA, completed after regulatory and legal formalities in July.

The combined expertise of both companies aims to streamline various airport processes including check-in, baggage handling, and security operations.

Travelslers are set to benefit from reduced wait times and smoother journeys as IPS a SITA company joins forces with existing airport operations, passenger processing, and baggage systems.

This merger is expected to usher in a new era of personalised digital services for passengers.

The SITA Airports portfolio, with the addition of IPS a SITA company, continues to provide latest technologies to the aviation sector.

These technologies range from biometrics, which serve 85% of international air passengers, to Common Use Terminal Equipment (CUTE), Common Use Self Service (CUSS) kiosks, Airport Management Systems (AMS), and Airside Optimiser solutions.

These are designed to help airports optimise terminal capacities and offer secure ‘frictionless travel’ experiences.

With biometric identification, facial recognition, and self-service options transforming airports into digital travel hubs, passengers can have personalised journeys.

Globally, over 2,300 Self-Bag Drop kiosks have been deployed across more than 120 airports, handling around 150,000 daily bag drops.

This solidifies IPS a SITA company as the leading provider of end-to-end solutions at airports, with over 13 billion passengers annually using its systems.

SITA SVP of Airports Nathalie Altwegg said: “Airports worldwide need to adopt technologies that can remove unnecessary bottlenecks at pinch points like check-in, security and embarkation. The addition of IPS a SITA company combines the best of our market-leading SITA and IPS products and expertise to deliver seamless travel experiences.

“This unrivalled gold standard portfolio will enable our airport customers to deliver the solutions that will ultimately ensure passengers worldwide enjoy an easier and frictionless travel experience, devoid of frustrating and lengthy queues.

“By combining CUTE and CUSS kiosks with biometric and facial recognition technology, and our IPS portfolio, SITA is at the forefront of developments that will ultimately reshape the future of airport travel,” added Altwegg.

IPS a SITA company delivers secure solutions for all common-use passenger touchpoints and offers integrated biometric identification, cloud-based services, and smart payment technology.

IPS a SITA company CEO Georg Oschmann said: “Together, we are setting a new standard in automated passenger handling for the aviation industry.

“By connecting our expertise, we are positioned to deliver even greater value to airlines and airports worldwide. Our integration enhances our ability to streamline the passenger journey and drive innovation that meets the evolving needs of the industry.”
