The Oneworld alliance has added Fiji Airways as its 15th full member airline, bolstering its numbers as it seeks to compete with rival alliances.
The Fijian and South Pacific flag carrier has been a ‘connect partner’ in the global airline alliance since December 2018, but will now begin the process of becoming a full member.
The process is set to be completed after Oman Air’s addition to the group later this year.
Andre Viljoen, CEO of Fiji Airways, said: “I am extremely proud to announce our full membership in the award-winning Oneworld alliance, marking a significant step in our commitment to providing unparalleled service and connectivity.”
As well as Oman Air, Fiji will join other major airlines as a Oneworld member including American, British Airways, Qantas, and Cathay Pacific, with its transition to full membership expected to take 12 months.
With the addition of Fiji, Oneworld will bring its membership closer to that of SkyTeam, the industry’s second-biggest alliance with 19 members, and further its influence in the Pacific region.

By GlobalDataNat Pieper, CEO of Oneworld, said: “With its tremendous growth, award-winning product and services, and acceleration of connections with all Oneworld member airlines, Fiji Airways will strengthen our position as the premier airline alliance for international global travellers.”
By joining as a full member, Fiji Airways and its subsidiary Fiji Link will add their destinations to the alliance’s network and offer Oneworld customers a full suite of benefits including earning and redeeming air miles and access to nearly 700 lounges around the world.
Prior to the addition of Oman Air, the last major membership change for Oneworld was the ousting of Russia’s S7 in 2022 as a result of sanctions against the country for its invasion of Ukraine.
