The construction work has begun on a new satellite terminal building at the Pudong International Airport in Shanghai, China.
Due to be completed in 2019, the building has an investment of $3.18bn and will comprise of 83 departure gates and almost 120 new aprons, reported Shanghaiist.com.

The thrid terminal, designed in the shape of an H, will comprise of two sections S1 and S2, which cover an area of about 622,000m².
Once completed, the airport will be able to handle 80 million passengers and 4.7 million tonnes of cargo annually.
Shanghai Airport Authority president Li Derun was quoted by Shanghaiist.com as saying: "The departure gates of the current two terminal buildings are not enough, forcing aircraft to taxi a long way before takeoff. It was one of main reasons for flight delays."
Presently, the airport has 135 gates and 70 parking lots. However, according to authorities, the airport requires around 190 departure gates by 2025 in order to handle 80 million passengers.
