Scaled Composites president Kevin Mickey told Los Angeles Times that the company will no longer be engaged in SS2 testing and would work as a consultant to Virgin Galactic.

The first test flight of the SpaceShipTwo was conducted by Scaled Composites on 31 October 2014.

"The SS2 is currently under construction in a hangar in Mojave."

However, the flight broke-up in mid-air over the Mojave Desert, killing one pilot and injuring the other.
