Thales has secured a contract to implement a new air traffic management system for the Jamaican Civil Aviation Authority (JCAA).
Under the terms of the deal, the company will modernise and enhance air traffic services at six sites, including the Norman Manley and Sangster International airports, and three radar sites.
The contract also includes the upgrade of the country’s air traffic control (ATC) centre located in Kingston.
Thales will deploy an L-Band Primary radar linked with the Mode-S MSSR Radar at Mount Denham.
Meanwhile, the Kingston and Montego Bay sites will be equipped with one Mode-S MSSR radar each.
All radar sites will link to the Kingston ATC centre, which will be equipped with the Thales TopSky-ATC to ensure maximum coverage of the Jamaican airspace.
