Swedish airport operator Swedavia, in collaboration with China’s Capital Airports Holding Company (CAH), has established a sister airport relationship between Stockholm Arlanda Airport, Sweden, and Beijing Capital International Airport, China.
Stockholm Arlanda Airport is the only Scandinavian airport to be served by a Chinese airline, Air China. In 2013, the airline celebrated 25 years of operating in the airport.
Since 2000, passenger travel between Beijing and Stockholm has grown ten times faster than other international passenger traffic at Arlanda, as stated by Swedavia.
The number of Chinese travellers visiting Sweden has increased by 28% compared to 2015.
In September 2015, the Scandinavian airline SAS started a direct route operating from Stockholm to Hong Kong in a bid to meet the growing numbers of Chinese visitors.
Stockholm Arlanda Airport director Kjell-Ake Westin said: "We are delighted to deepen our good relations with China.
