Airport manager SACBO has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Italian air navigation service provider (ANSP) ENAV to enhance traffic flow management at Orio al Serio International Airport in Bergamo, Italy.
Under the terms of the agreement, SACBO and ENAV will commence the airport collaborative decision making (A-CDM) programme to improve traffic flow and optimise processes associated with the use of the airport infrastructure and resources.
Under the terms of the MoU, the companies will implement the collaborative decision-making project as early as possible to attain the Single European Sky (SES) initiative based on the indications given by Eurocontrol to the European Commission (EC) for all ANSPs.
Expected to be implemented by the end of the second quarter of 2019, the A-CDM programme for Orio al Serio airport will offer a range of benefits for the airport manager, airlines, air traffic management (ATM) and ground handling service providers, and the user community.
ENAV general manager Massimo Bellizzi said: “Today’s achievement confirms again that the synergetic ENAV – SACBO approach is a trump card for a gradual, sustainable development of the Bergamo airport.
“A-CDM will help optimise operational processes for the benefit of airlines and passengers. ENAV is constantly using its technology and skills to make air transport more efficient and sustainable.”

By GlobalDataUnder the A-CDM programme, all phases of flight, from departure to landing, are taken as a single process.
The programme aims to optimise ATM and operations through a constant exchange of the latest information between the parties concerned.
A-CDM is an integrated platform for real-time transmission to Eurocontrol’s Network Management Operations Centre of information on the current state of all outgoing flights.
It is said to optimise air traffic flows, airport capacity management, and use of infrastructure and human resources, increasing flight punctuality and reducing fuel consumption.
