Finnish airport operator Finavia has selected Rohde & Schwarz R&S Series4200 radios to modernise the country’s air traffic control communications infrastructure.
This country-wide transition project will convert analogue radios to digital VoIP technology, which is expected to enhance operational efficiency and resource management.
Under the contract, the radio infrastructure will be modernised at 69 radio sites across Finland.
Starting in June, 450 R&S Series4200 radios and 69 equipment racks will be installed to provide high-quality voice connections between pilots and air traffic controllers.
Rohde & Schwarz also holds the responsibility to deliver, install and commission the services.
Finavia vice-president and Air Navigation Services chief technical officer Jukka Piilola said: “We expect the project to proceed efficiently due to Rohde & Schwarz’s proven reputation for providing quality products, professional system integration and ongoing support.
