Germany’s Munich Airport will continue to give its support for expansion and relocation activities at Muscat and Salalah airports in Oman.
Airport operator FMG visited Muscat last month to sign an agreement to this effect.
The FMG operational readiness and airport transfer (ORAT) team secured the contract for the commissioning, relocation and operation of these airports in 2010.
This particular contract, which cost several millions, was in the run for about four and a half years. The expansion works at the airport, which includes the construction of the new terminal, will be completed by the end of 2016.
A new runway and control tower, which went operational in December 2014, were also part of the expansion.
The expansion at Salalah Airport will see the construction of a new runway, a new tower and an additional terminal.
