FMG, the operating company for Munich Airport in Germany, has established a new wholly-owned subsidiary to carry out its international activities.

Dubbed 'Munich Airport International (MAI)', the new subsidiary provides the airport with a tailor-made platform for handling international contracts in the areas of consulting, airport management and training that were previously implemented by the parent company.

The business activities include airport operations, IT, engineering, real estate services, facility management, fleet management, training academy, ground transportation services, rentals, hotels and catering, and retail.

MAI has been established to cover all aspects of airport and terminal planning, the commissioning of new facilities, operational planning and process optimisation.

It will also perform profit and revenue optimisation, airport privatisation consulting, customised training, and comprehensive airport management.

Besides airports, the customers of the company include governments, airlines, construction firms and several consultancies.

Experts from Munich Airport are currently involved in the management of other airports in Palmerola (Honduras), Cairo (Egypt), and Taif (Saudi Arabia).

Consulting services are provided at airports in Muscat (Oman), Abu Dhabi (UAE), Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), Quito (Ecuador) and Changi Airport in Singapore.
