An Istanbul-bound Turkish Airlines flight was rerouted to Halifax Stanfield International Airport in Nova Scotia, Canada, after receiving a bomb threat alert.
The alert was received hours after the aircraft took off from John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, US.

The flight, TK2, departed from New York on Saturday evening and was forced to make an emergency landing at Halifax on Sunday morning after being called by some anonymous person reporting a bomb aboard the plane.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police ensured that the 256 passengers and crew on board were safely evacuated and taken to the airport terminal in buses.
The flight and the luggage were thoroughly inspected. Even bomb-sniffing dogs were used to have a thorough search.
The Canadian police found no device to prove the threat and believed it to be a hoax. The airplane has been cleared to resume its flight to Istanbul.
