Joint Venture Company IGA has selected ADB Safegate to conduct an airfield ground lighting (AGL) design review at Istanbul New Airport, Turkey.
Under the contract, ADB will supply and install 35,000 intelligent LED ground lights and all visual aids, including transformers, transistor regulators, energy-efficient power solutions, mounting equipment, and approach solutions such as flashers, precision approach path indicators (PAPI), and approach lighting.
The contractual scope further includes the deployment of a taxiway system with a full switching ability, as well as the integration of a single and double-channel individual light control and monitoring system (ILCMS).
While the LED ground lights will lighten up the runways and taxiways ensuring smooth and safe operations, the ILCMS will control the lights individually rather than in selected circuits to save energy and enable cost-effective maintenance.
A consortium led by Changi Airports International (CAI) will operate the new King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, following a 20-year agreement signed between the company and the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) of Saudi Arabia.
The airport, which is under construction, is 88% complete and will begin operations on an experimental basis starting from mid-2018. CAI will manage and operate the airport starting June 2017, pursuant to the contract.
