Security solutions provider Smiths Detection has won a contract to supply Copenhagen Airport with 18 of its advanced eqo millimetre-wave for improved passenger screening at checkpoints.
The Advanced People Screening System, which is capable of detecting threat items on skin, clothing, carried items, bags, vehicles and other surfaces, will replace the legacy systems at the airport to meet new EU regulations on security.
The eqo portal will be deployed at central and transit checkpoints to be used when alarms or suspicions are raised during primary screening.
Copenhagen Airport security head Johnnie Muller said: “Copenhagen Airports is satisfied with enhancing the security performance of our checkpoints with the introduction of the eqo security scanner.
“The technology raises the detection capability to comply with new EU regulations while at the same time improving the experience of our passengers. Integrating seamlessly into our existing checkpoints, the eqo security scanner is a welcome addition to the security infrastructure of the airport.”

The eqo portal has also been deployed in critical infrastructure applications such as prison, military and customs, besides airports around the world.
Earlier this month, Morpho Detection reached a contract with the Copenhagen Airport to supply 30 desktop explosives trace detectors (ETD).
