CPB Contractors, a CIMIC Group company, has secured a new $400m contract to build a new runway at Brisbane Airport in Australia.

The project will be carried out by CPB and Australian construction company BMD Constructions, as part of a 50:50 joint venture (JV).

The contract will provide CPB with revenue of approximately $200m.

CIMIC Group CEO Adolfo Valderas said: “CIMIC Group and CPB Contractors are pleased to be involved in the expansion of Brisbane Airport and to contribute our major project experience to support one of Australia’s fastest growing passenger and freight transport hubs.”

The current deal is the final contract awarded for the development of the new parallel runway project.

"We are committed to working with Brisbane Airport and all major stakeholders to ensure that the project’s planned operational, social and economic benefits are achieved."

As part of the project, a 3.3km main runway and a 12km taxiway system will be constructed, in addition to a range of airfield infrastructure, including navigational aids, operation roads, drainage and landscaping, security fences, and control systems.
