Airways Corporation, a commercial Air Navigation Service Provider (ANSP) in New Zealand, has been selected by the aviation authorities in Vietnam as the country’s new air traffic control (ATC) training provider.

The company has also signed two agreements with the Vietnam aviation authorities to provide ATC training and related services for Vietnam-based students.

The first agreement is a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed for five years with Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM).

The agreement was announced by New Zealand Prime Minister John Key during a New Zealand trade delegation visit to Vietnam.

"We look forward to assisting VATM meet air traffic growth estimated to reach 8.4% per annum over the next 20 years – that’s nearly double the predicted world annual traffic growth of 4.6%."

It will also provide related training services to Vietnamese students, such as ATC candidate selection programme SureSelect, e-learning services and Total Control simulators.

The second agreement is an MOU with the Vietnam Aviation Academy (VAA), a renowned aviation university in Vietnam, which confirms Airways’ role in imparting ATC training to the university students.
