US-based aircraft component manufacturer Aerostar Aerospace has acquired Warmelin Precision Products for an undisclosed sum.

Founded in 1968, Warmelin manufactures complex precision components for the global aerospace sector and also makes geometrically demanding parts using high-speed, five-axis machining techniques, helping for rapid fabrication of critical components.

The acquisition is a part of Aerostar’s strategy of identifying and combining high-performing suppliers in the fragmented aerospace machined component industry.

The merged entity operates a combined facility footprint of more than 100,000ft and serves several aerospace customers.

"We believe that Warmelin’s adjacent capabilities will make the combined business a much stronger partner to our customers."

With the acquisition, Aerostar aims to expand its presence in the Southern California region and continue its acquisition strategy in the region.

Aerostar Aerospace CEO Joe Muklevicz said: "We are extremely happy to welcome Warmelin into the Aerostar family, and look forward to helping to support their growth alongside ours in the years to come.

Established in 1983, Aerostar, was acquired in October last year by a private equity firm Nautic Partners, which has so far completed 125 platform transactions.

Aerostar mainly makes high-complexity, close-tolerance machined parts for use in commercial aircraft, primarily in engines and in auxiliary power units.
