The Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA) has broken ground on the new $268m Concourse D at Nashville International Airport (BNA) in the US.
Under the project, which is part of MNAA’s growth and expansion plan, BNA Vision, Concourse D will be constructed over an area of 115,000ft². The facility will house six domestic aircraft gates and a range of new dining and retail venues.
Besides building a new concourse, the project involves the expansion of the airport’s ticketing lobby and baggage claim by adding 200,000ft² of space to the north and south ends of the terminal.
Additionally, the project includes remodelling the 136,000ft² existing terminal space and building an 11,000ft² central utility plant.
MNAA president and CEO Doug Kreulen said: “This new Concourse D will give us more capacity for commercial air service to meet the rising demand for travel to and from Nashville.
“And we will see to it that the look and feel of this space reflects the sights and sounds, tastes and hospitality for which Music City is so well known.

By GlobalData“With multiple BNA Vision projects now underway, the world-class airport we’re building for this world-class city is beginning to take shape. It’s an exciting time, and there’s much more to come.”
The BNA, which already has three concourses, believes that the Concourse D project will be completed by 2020.
Under the five-year ‘BNA Vision’, which was announced in July 2016, a number of projects are underway. They include the airport’s new Parking and Transportation Center, slated to open this year.
The plan also includes the expanded central terminal, airport administration building, potential hotel and transit connection, and an international arrivals facility.
MNAA has selected Hensel Phelps and Fentress Architects to serve as the design-build team for the Concourse D project.
