Miami-Dade Aviation Department (MDAD) and the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) have signed an agreement for Miami Executive Airport (TMB) to remain open for international arrivals until midnight on the peak days of Thursday to Monday.
The new hours of operation for passport screening at TMB are 11am to midnight from Thursday to Monday, and 11am to 7pm on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Previously, the airport operated from 11am to 7pm every day.
The pilot programme commenced on 6 June, allowing MDAD to reimburse CBP for providing extended passport screening hours to process international private jet or charter flight passengers arriving at TMB.
Miami International Airport (MIA) director and CEO Lester Sola said: “As one of the busiest GA airports in the country and as a reliever airport for Miami International Airport, Miami Executive Airport will now be able to serve its international passengers with greater convenience.
“We are proud to partner with CBP on this pilot programme, which improves Miami-Dade County’s ability to serve as the gateway of the Americas.”

By GlobalDataEarlier this month, the Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners approved a $5bn capital improvement programme at MIA for airport-wide modernisation projects over the next five to 15 years.
The modernisation programme is intended to enable the airport to cater to future growth in passenger and cargo traffic. MIA is projected to witness 77 million travellers and over four million tonnes of freight by 2040.
The programme involves the redevelopment of Central Terminal concourses E and F, the expansion of the South Terminal (concourses H and J), the renovation of Concourse D gates to accommodate additional wide and narrow-body aircraft, as well as larger regional jets.
Two new hotels and other miscellaneous landside projects will also be taken up under the programme. One of the hotels will include a business and conference centre with exhibition space. The modernisation programme will also involve the expansion of aircraft parking positions and warehouses for cargo operations.
