New World Development Company has selected global design studio Lead 8 as the lead design architect for the $2.5bn SkyCity Airport RDE complex at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA).
Last month, New World Development Company secured the tender for the commercial development in SkyCity (SkyCity A2 and A3 sites).
The decision to select Lead 8 was based on its recent designs that integrate transportation, retail, and dining for landmark developments.
Lead 8 co-founder and executive director Claude Touikan said: “Our design uses architectural forms and languages that are easily distinguishable from airport architecture, should it be seen from the air or ground level.
“This will be an innovation-driven design, incorporating sustainable features through key design drivers to achieve, and indeed, exceed building certification standards.”
SkyCity is a commercial entertainment and retail project located next to the main passenger terminals of HKIA.
