LaGuardia Gateway Partners (LGP) has announced that the arrivals and departures hall at Terminal B of LaGuardia Airport in New York, the US, will open on 13 June.
This marks 80% completion of the Terminal B project and is the largest milestone in the $8bn transformation of LaGuardia Airport.
LGP is responsible for operating and redeveloping LaGuardia Airport’s Terminal B. It is a private consortium formed by Vantage Airport Group, Skanska, Meridiam and JLC Infrastructure.
Passengers will be able to check in, pass through security, access shops, restaurants and services, and pick up their baggage at the new arrivals and departures hall.
Spread over 850,000ft², the arrivals and departures hall features four levels, ground transportation access and a centralised, TSA screening checkpoint with 16 lanes.
Ticket counters and baggage claim for Air Canada, American Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and United Airlines will operate from this hall.

By GlobalDataIt is connected to the new eastern concourse gates with a pedestrian bridge on top of the original terminal.
The security screening at the new terminal will feature three ‘state-of-the-art’ technology systems that will accelerate the screening while ensuring the safety of passengers.
The baggage system uses an artificial intelligence-based, robotic-assisted convenience system, which increases its efficiency.
A new automated bin sequencing and retrieval system is also available for passengers who have carry-on baggage at the TSA check point.
Other features of the terminal include nine new large baggage carousels and 17 large bathrooms.
Currently, work is still underway on the final part of Terminal B, which is the western concourse. The first seven of the 17 gates will open later this year.
After the completion of the redevelopment of LaGuardia Airport, the US will have its first new airport in over twenty years.
New York State Governor Andrew M Cuomo said: “The opening of the new arrivals and departures hall at Terminal B is the biggest milestone to date in the transformation of LaGuardia Airport into a world-class transportation hub that is worthy of New York State.
“As we continue to upgrade and modernise this airport for the 21st century, this new state-of-the-art hall will offer passengers a unique travel experience with new concessions, traveller amenities and art installations by four of the world’s leading artists, while increasing space for passengers to move more safely and efficiently during and after the Covid-19 pandemic.”
In December 2018, LGP opened the first 11 gates in the new eastern concourse at LaGuardia Airport’s Terminal B in New York, US.
