GMR Hyderabad, the operator of Hyderabad Airport in India, and Dubai Airports have signed a logistics deal for the distribution of the Covid-19 vaccine.
Through an exclusive vaccine air freight corridor called HYDXB-VAXCOR (Hyderabad to Dubai global Vaccine Corridor), the two entities will handle up to 300t of vaccines a day.

This corridor will link vaccine producers in India with international markets through Dubai International Airport.
Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths said: “A major surge in demand for the efficient, safe and reliable global distribution of high volumes of Covid-19 vaccines is expected in the coming months. We wanted to be ready to respond to and accommodate that demand.”
With five key vaccine manufacturers in the vicinity, Hyderabad has become the world’s emerging vaccine capital, reported Reuters.
India recently approved two coronavirus vaccines for emergency use. One vaccine has been developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford University while the other has been developed by domestic firm Bharat Biotech.

In a separate development, Halt Station at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, India, has started operations.
The station, which has a 230m-long platform, will be linked to numerous parts of the airport by a shuttle bus service.
The timing and frequency of the shuttle bus service will be aligned with the timings of trains.
