Fraport Greece has unveiled its plans for remodelling and expanding Kavala International Airport, also known as ‘Alexander The Great’.
The proposed €10m expansion of the terminal building is set to add 2,000m² of additional space. The upgraded airport is expected to be ready by 2019.
Furthermore, remodelling of the terminal building and installation of modern facilities will enable the airport to provide ample facilities to passengers.
Fraport Greece CEO Alexander Zinell stated: “It is a great pleasure being here today in the beautiful city of Kavala, an important crossroad of civilisations and gateway to some of Greece’s most important archaeological and holiday destinations.
“I am delighted to announce that the development and upgrade works at Kavala Airport ‘Alexander The Great’ are about to start. Within just one year, Fraport Greece will completely overhaul the existing airport and significantly improve the passenger experience.”
The Kavala airport expansion will also include installation of a new baggage handling system and the renovation and expansion of the fire station.
