Croatia’s air traffic control (ATC) company Croatia Control has installed an ATC simulator tower at its headquarters in Velika Gorica to improve the training facilities for new controllers. 

The simulator is built by New Zealand-based Airways International and consists of a 270-degree, 17 screen simulator with a TrueView graphics installation featuring 10 custom aerodrome views that replicate airports around Croatia.

Sharon Cooke, Airways International CEO, said: “We congratulate Croatia Control on achieving the milestone of commissioning our TotalControl simulation solution for their air traffic controllers, and we’re proud to be enhancing their ATC training capabilities through [the] provision of an immersive simulated learning environment.” 

The technology was first commissioned by Croatia Control in 2023 and was installed on site after a group of representatives from the ATC company visited Airways International’s facilities in Christchurch, New Zealand for factory acceptance testing. 

In addition to the screens, the simulator also includes two controller positions, two simulator pilot positions, an instructor position, and data preparation/testing positions.
