Boeing has made an undisclosed investment in UK-based startup Isotropic Systems, a developer of next-generation solutions to better connect people and enterprises worldwide.
By leveraging optical beam steering, Isotropic’s user terminals can simultaneously connect to many different satellites. This cuts down cost as well as complexity.
Due to this capability, it is possible for customers to have low-cost, mass-market broadband connectivity. Companies can also meet the increasing demand for satellite data, mobility and broadband services, even in remote sites.
Boeing HorizonX Ventures managing director Brian Schettler said: “Isotropic’s solution allows for increased capabilities at reduced costs for satellite service providers.
“This investment accelerates the expansion of space-based connectivity services to the mass market and continues Boeing’s leadership in space innovation.”
Isotropic was set up in 2013 by chief executive officer John Finney, a former founding member of O3b Networks.
