Bangalore International Airport (BIAL) has signed an agreement with IT firm Unisys to develop an Analytics Center of Excellence at Kempegowda International Airport in India.
The new centre will support BIAL’s business intelligence and advanced data analytics platform and help it to combine and modernise the airport’s strategic, tactical and operational reporting capabilities.
Leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) technology, the platform will enable the airport to deliver content information related to airport services and flight information in real-time.
Additionally, the services will grant passengers access to improved airport navigation, communication of airport services and proactive and personalised retail offerings.
BIAL chief strategy and development officer Satyaki Raghunath said: “BIAL is committed to being a data-driven organisation that will create a smart, futuristic and intuitive airport journey for passengers.
“Unisys’ solution will provide us with intelligent and intuitive data and analytics that will support the enhancement of the customer experience we provide.”

By GlobalDataUsing AI and machine learning, the Unisys-developed platform will allow BIAL to generate more than 150 insightful, interactive business intelligence reports, to predict future travel patterns and passenger trends.
This will also allow the airport to shift its strategy from hindsight to foresight, predictive to prescriptive, and improve future decision-making processes.
The solution, which will be hosted on the Microsoft Azure cloud platform, will tap Azure capabilities such as Azure HDInsight, SQL Data Warehouse, Azure Machine Learning and Azure Advanced Data Analytics services.
Unisys Asia Pacific vice-president and managing director Tony Windever said: “This strategic collaboration leverages Unisys’ deep domain expertise and digital transformation capabilities, like the Analytics Center of Excellence, to create a more agile, predictive business model for travel and transportation customers.”
Recently, BIAL signed a number of technology contracts including LED Lights contract with ADB Safegate as well as a digital transformation contract with Siemens.
