Swiss information technology company SITA has secured a contract from Bahrain Airport Services (BAS) for its new airport management system.
Under the contract, the company will deploy SITA Airport Management to manage BAS’s ground handler operations. The aim is to minimise flight delays in a cost-effective manner.
SITA Mobile Resource Manager is a key component of the technology upgrade that calculates staffing levels and creates optimised rosters.
It also provides a real-time view of task allocations as well as activities at Bahrain International Airport (BIA).
SITA stated that the real-time updates help in improving and accelerating decision-making, which enables more effective planning and allocation of resources.
It will also see increase in accuracy of billable services, revenue generation through automatic task logging.

By GlobalDataBAS CEO Mohamed Khalil said: “As we phase out manual and paper-based operations, the SITA solution offers the next generation of mobile resource management systems that will enable us to significantly improve our planning and rostering activities.
“The system will optimise resource deployment for ground handling management at BIA while also assisting us in enhancing planning, operational efficiency, employee management, and customer service.”
The agents will have mobile access through the new system to enable data entry at the time and place of their operations.
All BAS staff working on shift rosters will also have access to the system.
The new airport management system will help BAS assess all the ground handling service level agreements of its customers and provide a quick service to the invoicing cycle.
Last month, London Luton Airport (LLA) in the UK installed SITA’s Airport Management solution to streamline its day-to-day operations.
