Romania’s Bucharest National Airports Company (CNAB) has selected Alstef Group to overhaul the international terminal baggage handling and screening system at Henri Coandă International Airport in Otopeni, Bucharest.
CNAB chose Alstef Group for this project after a public tender process.
Alstef Group regional sales manager Thibault Chambon said: “This is our first project working with CNAB.
“We have also been awarded a five-year operations and maintenance contract beginning at the completion of the project.”
The project scope includes 56 new check-in conveyors, 12 self-service bag drops and a new outbound sortation system with five new Standard 3 screening machines.
It also includes two new make-up carousels and a transfer connection to the domestic terminal.
The project will be completed within a span of two years.
Henri Coandă is said to be the largest and busiest airport in Romania. It is one of two airports that serve the Romanian capital city of Bucharest.
In addition to the upgrades, Alstef Group will also manage other work related to expansion, such as civil works and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC).
It is Alstef Group’s first project in Romania.
Earlier this month, Swiss IT firm SITA partnered with Alstef Group to launch the Swift Drop self-bag drop solution.
The technology is designed to reduce baggage handling time at airports.
