Hong Kong flag carrier Cathay Pacific and HK Express have chosen Airbus’ Flight Hour Services (FHS) for their A320 family fleet.

Under the maintenance-by-the-hour contracts, the aircraft manufacturer will deliver integrated component services, including on-site stock, pool access, and repair services.

Furthermore, the airlines will avail Airbus’s engineering expertise and FHS local representatives in Hong Kong.

HK Express, a Hong Kong-based low-cost airline fully owned by Cathay Pacific, is the new FHS customer for Airbus.

HK Express CEO Mandy Ng said: “We believe this agreement with Airbus to provide component management services on our A320 fleet will help ensure we achieve our operational and reliability targets, allowing us to provide a best-in-class service to our customers.”

The multi-year contract extends the existing service relationship between Airbus and Cathay Pacific.

Airbus’ FHS has been supporting the carrier’s A350 fleet since 2016.

Airbus Asia-Pacific customer service head Bruno Bousquet said: “Airbus’s FHS will support the operational ramp-up at Cathay Pacific and HK Express. These new contracts will enable us to work even closer with both carriers to offer them the best services to cope with the new market reality.”

Over the past six months, Airbus has finalised 11 FHS contracts with operators worldwide.

This April, Malaysia Airlines signed a multi-year extension of its Flight Hour Services Components (FHS-C) contract with Airbus for the carrier’s A330 and A350 fleets.
