UK’s AGS Airports has launched its new mobile application to improve passenger experience from arriving at the airport to boarding the aeroplane.
The airport group said that its smartphone application allows passengers to track flights, navigate the terminal, book parking, VIP lounge, Covid-19 tests, and much more.
AGS Airports Group digital head Fraser Ralston said: “With digital being at the core of our travellers’ needs before, during, and after their flight, having an app that can seamlessly support all of our customers’ needs through every aspect of their journey is vital.”
Part of the Digital Passenger Experience, which was launched by AGS in 2018 at Glasgow and Aberdeen airports, along with the Digital Hub, the application is said to have been designed to understand the passengers’ experience and anticipate their needs.
In a statement, AGS Airports said: “Covid-19 marked a turning point in every aspect of our lives, including travel. For that reason, the AGS app experienced a major upgrade in 2020.
“Glasgow (GLA) and Aberdeen (ABZ) airports deployed beacons to support the app by sending push notifications to assist with navigating the terminal and provide information such as updates on the health situation and keeping passengers aware of security requirements.”

Ralston added: “While the core purpose of the app is to help our passengers through the airport experience, it has taken on a new role due to Covid-19 by helping us keep our passengers safe and informed and adapting to changing booking and purchasing habits.”
Going forward, the airport group plans to further upgrade its smartphone application with new additions such as updates to online customer service, more customisation, and e-commerce.

The 2.4 million-square-foot terminal is expected to generate more than 10,000 jobs, which include over 6,000 construction roles.
