EUROCONTROL have again awarded the important Centralised ARTAS Maintenance and Support (CAMOS) Industrial Partner contract to German expert COMSOFT, enabling the continued and sustained level of ARTAS support expected by its vast circle of users.
EUROCONTROL’s ATM Surveillance Tracker, ARTAS, is now the most advanced and well-established surveillance data processing system in the world, evolving over the years to become the standard tracker used in Europe. Launched by EUROCONTROL in the early 1990s, on behalf of its member states, the ARTAS initiative proved itself to be key element of the ATC surveillance chain, raising the level of performance and safety.
A key to its success is accredited to the valuable partnership between EUROCONTROL and COMSOFT since 2001. With this being the fourth contract awarded to COMSOFT, and marking an unbroken track record, it again enables a continuous and increasingly superior quality service period for the ever-growing ARTAS users’ community steered by EUROCONTROL.
ARTAS uses the latest tracking technologies to deliver an outstanding level of accuracy and reliability in data output. It was designed to establish an accurate air situation picture, over a well-defined geographical area and distribute the relevant surveillance information to a variety of user systems. Meanwhile, the constantly growing demands of ARTAS users in regards to quality, safety and functionality have led to a constant evolution of enhanced software versions, in order to meet todays and future demands.
With COMSOFT contributing to the success of ARTAS for almost 15 years this subsequent five year contract serves to further highlight the German specialist’s expertise and their significance to the rising number of ARTAS users, who have regularly shown their appreciation and backing for COMSOFT. The latest CAMOS contract will continue to foster EUROCONTROL and COMSOFT cooperation on maintenance and support for ARTAS users, as well as the extension of ARTAS with new features required by EUROCONTROL users.
Close to 40 civil and military Air Navigation Service Providers use or plan to use ARTAS already as a cornerstone of their national surveillance infrastructure and the ability for ARTAS to act as an enabler for ADS-B and WAM marks it as an important technology for the future of air traffic management.
